Shoebox coordinates an ongoing effort for the collection and distribution of toiletry kits for people who need, but cannot afford these items.

Shoebox Ministry, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit service corporation, located in Arizona. Shoebox was founded in 1988 with a specific goal of meeting the personal hygiene needs people experiencing homelessness and others in need of help. We are the only agency in the greater Phoenix area with an ongoing program that coordinates the collection and distribution of toiletry items for agencies serving people experiencing homelessness, domestic violence survivors, abused and neglected children, the working poor, and other people who need, but cannot afford, hygiene items.

Why

In addition to the obvious health benefits of good hygiene, it is our belief, ongoing access to these items is vital in the journey back to self-sufficiency, healthy living, and basic human dignity. Good hygiene is necessary for job interviews, basic societal interaction, and it just feels good to be clean, and groomed.

If we treat people as they are, we make them worse. If we treat people as they ought to be, we help them become what they are capable of becoming.
— Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
